Soon, she meets a kindred spirit in a young girl named Phyllis, who is taking a fishing vacation with her father and brother, Ted. As the two of them are getting to know one another, Phyllis’s dog finds something mysterious buried close to the abandoned bungalow next door to Leslie’s. Soon, the girls are sucked into the mystery surrounding the bungalow and its mysterious visitors.
August Huiell Seaman wrote dozens of books aimed at older children. They are mostly mystery adventures. The Dragon’s Secret was published in 1921. The Jersey shore setting is inspired by Seaman’s home town of Island Beach, New Jersey.
