When a stranger visits the town, he feels affronted by the townspeople and vows ultimate revenge. Can the incorruptible town withstand the ultimate temptation… the promise of riches and gold? Though lesserknown than his major novels, including Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, the story is now wellregarded and has been read and reread for generations.
